I am a Registered Psychologist who obtained my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Simon Fraser University where I studied borderline personality disorder, self-harm behaviour, and emotion dysregulation. As an avid researcher, I have published numerous research articles and book chapters on these subjects. I also spent 3 years as a therapist at the DBT Centre of Vancouver where I received specialized training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for adolescents and adults who struggle with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and other emotional concerns. I then completed my residency at the Edmonton Consortium where I delivered evidence based treatments for individuals with various difficulties such as disordered eating, chronic pain, cardiac and other medical conditions. I’ve been practicing as a psychologist since 2008 across various hospital and private practice settings, providing both individual and group CBT and DBT treatment for depression, anxiety, personality disorders, and other mental health concerns.
I work with adults across the age span, and am especially passionate about working with teens (15+) and young adults who are struggling to figure out who they want to be and how to live a life in line with their values. I also love providing skills coaching to families, so they can best learn how to support their loved ones in this process. I draw from a number of evidence based, behavioural treatments in my practice, including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This means I take the very best of what science teaches us about how to manage our emotions and help you apply those skills in order to live a richer, more meaningful and fulfilling life. I am also pleased to offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) as a powerful yet gentle body-based treatment for trauma, grief, anxiety, and other difficulties.
Nothing thrills me more than walking alongside my clients as they learn to harness their emotions and to respond to them effectively as they build their very own life worth living! I will be your biggest cheerleader along the way. I strongly believe in the power of behavioural treatments, especially when balanced with strategies for acceptance, and I look forward to sharing these tools with you in our work together.
